Week 7 comes to a close with another horrid MNF game for us to ignore our families for. How does this shit keep happening? As I understand it MNF gets 2nd or 3rd pick most weeks of the beginning of the year, and I know they do try to sprinkle it around so every team gets a primetime game, but here we are again with another double digit spread, and the Jets ready to get pillaged by the Evil Empire of New England. Thankfully, the Jets at least have Sam Darnold back, but this is still an enormous mismatch.
The Patriots come in rolling off their 7th straight victory over an NAIA program. What is there to say about this team, honestly? They have the best coach of all time, they have the most decorated QB of all time, and, in case that wasn’t enough, they have what looks to be one of the most dominant defenses of this decade. Sure, it helps to have the weakest schedule in history as well, but their performances the last 8 games, including last year’s Super Bowl, have been flawless. The Pats will be without Josh Gordon tonight and it shouldn’t matter at all. Brady has been spreading it around all season to wide open targets. Look for James White and Phillip Dorsett to have big games tonight.
The Jets finally have their QB back but it might be too little too late for this season. Coming off a huge win over Dallas at home, the Jets will look to put the entire NFL on notice if they can pull off a miracle in the Meadowlands tonight. The Jets are only 1-4 but already have a huge uphill climb if they are going to make the playoffs this year. Thankfully for them, the defense has started to come around, ranking in the top-10 the last 3 games in YPP. Unfortunately for the Jets, they have had a tough time stopping teams once they get into the red zone. We know Brady doesn’t have the rocket launcher of an arm any more; NE runs a lot more screens, underneath routes, methodical drives that pick you apart. They will absolutely have to limit NE to field goals tonight if they want to give themselves a chance.
Thursday Nights game was a giant mixed bag of emotions. Easily win our 1st half bet, only to find that the KC defense can indeed stop a nosebleed. And of course, because New England just hasn’t caught enough breaks yet this season, our hero Pat Mahomes dislocated his kneecap and is out for a month. This is a really tough game to read, but I’m rolling with the GOATs here.
