John Warner analyzes tonight’s MNF game between the Giants and Eagles and offers up his favorite bets for the game!
Week 14 concludes with a resurrection of a career in the midst of a division title race, which is a way too exciting way to say Eli Manning is back for the Giants against the horrible Eagles.
This NFC East is one of the worst divisions we’ve had in some time, maybe dating back to the 2009 NFC West. We could very well be staring down a 7-9 team hosting a playoff game against a 12-win team.
The Eagles have a golden opportunity to seize control of the division tonight facing the corpse of Eli, but it seems neither Dallas nor Philadelphia wants anything to do with a division title this year. Eli gets to risk his 116-116 record for a tanking outfit on Monday Night Football due to Daniel Jones‘ injury.
New York is officially eliminated from playoff contention, something we knew since Week One. They haven’t had a decent showing in months and have managed to out-tank the Redskins so far. The Giants have one of the worst pass defenses in the league, one of the worst scoring defenses in the league, and are in the bottom half of 3rd down conversion rate. There’s not a lot to like!
Offensively, it’s gonna be tough to take a lot of their stats at face value with such a downgrade at QB. Normally, you’d be able to lean on the running game in a game like this but NYG has one of the worst offensive lines in the league.
Saquon Barkley hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 8, and as a team, they are just below league average in yards per attempt. The Giants don’t have a lot going for them, but the Eagles are very capable of laying an egg here.
Philly also hasn’t had a decent showing in months and they’re coming off a loss as 10-point faves in Miami. They’ve had problems offensively all year long, with the question popping up in recent weeks about whether Wentz is truly the guy to lead this team.
The Eagles are in the bottom quarter in yards per pass attempt and yards per play. They’ve been efficient on 3rd downs and on red zone entries, it’s just been getting there that’s been the problem. Luckily for them, a game against the Giants secondary may be the perfect remedy to get Wentz and co. back on track for the stretch run.
If the Eagles win tonight and next week they’re almost guaranteed to be division champs.
As y’all know I put a lot of emphasis on statistics, clearly to a fault, as the Cowboys were so much the better team on paper, and what the stats won’t tell you is that they have already quit on Jason Garrett.
Does anyone want to go to the playoffs in this division? It’s disgraceful performance after disgraceful performance from these two teams. I can’t believe we’re doing this, but I’ll be damned if I bet on fucking Eli Manning again.
- Philly -3.5/under 50.5 +115
- Manning longest completion under 38.5 -125 (.5x)
- Slayton receiving yards over 39.5 -120 (.5x)
- 19-39 -16.9x
