Betting expert @SBJohn12 previews this week’s NFL MNF matchup and gives out his favorite bets!
Week 12 comes to a close with Russell Wilson and the Seahawks going West Coast to East to take on Carson Wentz and the Eagles. Wilson is having a career year, while Wentz has been struggling to regain the form that led the Eagles to the Super Bowl just a few years ago. The Seahawks are looking to extend their lead in the NFC West with LA losing to San Francisco, and Philadelphia will be looking to take back the lead in the abysmal NFC East, thanks to a tie with Cincinnati. I’ll be looking for Wilson to flex his worth tonight in dominating fashion, in what should be a solid win for Seattle.
Seattle is one of the best teams in the league offensively, with Russ leading them to be the top offense in red zone conversion rate, and a top 5 team in YPP as well. But despite this, the Seahawks have lost 3 of 5 after starting 5-0. But the 2nd half of their schedule is pretty much a joke, as they have yet to play both New York teams as well, and they should waltz to the NFC West title. The defense, however, will be what slows this team down come playoff time. Seattle is in the bottom quarter of each metric we look at, coming in at 28th in red zone scoring allowed, 29th in 3rd down conversion, and 30th in YPP. Fortunately for the unit formerly known as the Legion of Boom they get to play one of the worst offensive teams in the league tonight.
Philadelphia has been one of the most frustrating teams to watch this year. On paper, they should be running away with this division which is probably the worst division we have seen top-to-bottom since league realignment. Wentz has been an abject disaster, with a complete failure to differentiate his team from the likes of teams that have started Kyle Allen and Garrett Gilbert this year. Rookie Jalen Hurts got some 1st team reps in practice this week, don’t be surprised if we see Wentz take a seat if the offense doesn’t get going early against the shoddy Seahawks secondary. Philly ranks 28th in YPP and 3rd down conversion rate, but 12th in red zone conversion rate. The issue is getting to the damn red zone. The Eagles defense has been decent and will have to scheme some ways to get pressure on Wilson and slow that offense down to give themselves a chance.
Couldn’t get our footing last Monday night, with Goff immediately blowing up both bets. And then turns around and lays a miserable egg today against a similar caliber of defense. I really can’t win with that guy; he is my NFL boogeyman. Tonight, we’ll be placing our money on Russell to send this mediocre Philly team packing, which definitely means he will be picked twice and sacked six times. I don’t see how the Wentz/Hurts conglomerate keeps pace despite the overall shittiness of the Seattle defense, so tonight we sit back, and #LetRussCook.
