John Warner analyzes tonight’s TNF matchup between the Jets and Ravens and offers up his favorite bets for the game!
Week 15 kicks off with our final Thursday Night game this year between the Jets and the Ravens. It’s always sad to see the final Thursday Night Roger, a symbol that the end of the season is just around the corner. Thankfully they scheduled one last mismatch before we move on to the always insane Saturday day games!
These are two teams moving in wildly different directions, with the Ravens running roughshod through the league gunning for a #1 seed, and the Jets, yet again doing Jets things.
New York is sitting at 5-8 with losses to both Miami and Cincinnati, which individually would be impressive, but together? Peak Jets. They’ve been wildly inconsistent all year, even after the return of Sam Darnold.
For the year, they have the worst offense in the league in YPP. They’ve turned it around the last six weeks – just about league average – but that includes a murderer’s row schedule of Giants, Redskins, Dolphins x2, Raiders, and Bengals.
So pardon me if I think there’s a bit of fools gold in believing in Adam Gase and this team. Going 4-2 in that span isn’t anything to write home about, sorry. Jamal Adams is a game time decision, and if the Jets have any hope of slowing down Lamar and co., they will desperately need him out there.
Baltimore has destroyed everything and everybody in its path for the last two months. What more is there to say about Lamar Jackson? He’s the most elusive player in the league and he happens to play the game‘s most important position. He’s going to shatter Vick’s QB rushing record by about 300 yards, they’re cruising through the AFC, and pretty much look unstoppable offensively.
And while Lamar Jackson and the offense has been a wonder to watch, the defense has been just as impressive. They haven’t allowed a team to score 20 points since October 6th, and they are tops in the league in the past month in YPA, allowing just 4.8 yards per attempt. They’re top 3 in the last month in both red zone conversion rate and 3rd down conversion rate.
Simply put, this team is a juggernaut, and the clear Super Bowl favorite by just about any measure.
We definitely got lucky last week with Philly getting just about every WR on the roster hurt and being forced to throw it to only Zach Ertz, but we got the job done.
I’m looking for Baltimore to keep on cruising along in their last primetime (regular season) game at home this year. New York certainly can’t hang offensively, unless Darnold has the game of his life, which he very well may be capable of, just not against this Ravens defense and the form they are in.
The Jets offer little resistance tonight, and with a potential Jamal Adams absence, this one is going to get really ugly, really fast.
